Day 125: Sawasdee Ka Krung Thep

"Sawasdee Ka    Krung Thep" =
"Hello          Bangkok!"          ....... or should we say:

Sawasdee Ka "Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Phiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit"  <-- Yup! That's Bangkok's real name.  What does that mean? Oh, that's easy.  This translates to:
"The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city (of Ayutthaya) of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated God, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarn."
Not joking! Bangkok's real name is listed in the Guinness World Book of Records lol.

We spent our first day in Bangkok exploring our surroundings. We walked about 3 miles up and down the streets near the air train. There are food vendors everywhere (every few steps), the traffic is loud, and it's humid!! Tonight we were rained in by a huge thunderstorm but we'll see what tomorrow brings.
