Day 339: David Banner is International

This poster caught my eye today. It brought back some great memories! No, I don't like David Banner (except that "Stuntin' is a Habit song lol).

Reeeeewind!  We visited my LS in Germany a few years ago. We went out one night and randomly ended up at a club where unbeknownst to us, David Banner was performing. Why was David Banner the hot shit in Germany?! Why did the Germans know all the words to all his songs?! And... why did we have a legitimately good time rockin' to David Banner in Germany?! lol.

I'm so mad I missed his first appearance in Australia. I wonder if he tried to drench a confederate flag with liquor and burn it on stage like he did in Germany ... hahaha!

Day 338: Orange People

There's always something going on near my office. Today, there were people dressed like orange people posing for pictures. There is rarely a dull moment in this city. I'm sure it's the same in most major cities around the world, but you take it for granted in your hometown. You become "immune" or "blind" to it. But, when you are somewhere new, you notice almost every detail. I'm glad I'll be able to go home and experience it like it's new. I can't wait to see what New York, Philly, and any other American city have waiting for me and hubster.

Day 337: Philanthropy Reminder

I have been part of many Breast Cancer Awareness initiatives ever since I joined my sorority. Every year we heard survivor stories, walked the walks, and raised the money. I have to sadly admit that I haven't done much since I graduated, except participated in a walk here and there.

When I got home this afternoon I saw this bright pink truck and it gave me a nice reminder that the fight still isn't over! I will get involved again in some capacity. I'll start putting that work in again.

Day 336: Coffee & Stripes

I'm so proud of my attempt at nail art. Since I don't have much to do during my evenings (except work on my new company and the gym) I take the time to explore my nail art talents!

I call this design Sophistafunk! It's so classy, subtle, and sassy.

Damn this Aussie coffee!!

Day 335: Girly Fun

Nails ... Movie... Lasagne... Gin in a pouch from Tanzania. Seriously, what else do you need for a much needed girly Sunday??

Day 332: My Big Nik & T-33 Days

Can you believe that the 365 project is almost over?? 33 days to go! I need to finish strong. I have my tools now I need to give my imagination and creativity a boost!

Ever since I launched DIOSA Nails & Polish I've been working late evenings and weekends and I've been shamefully neglecting Longology. I guess the good news is that I'm enjoying it so it doesn't seem like work.

Day 329: Monday Blues

Yet another week in the office!

Psst! Did you know I launched my own nail polish company?!

"LIKE" DIOSA Nails & Polish on Facebook!
                          Follow on Twitter! @DiosaNails

I'm so glad I went to the beach this past Friday and Saturday because it's going to be pouring all week!

Day 328: Marriage is...

I saw this randomly spray painted on a van lol.

I agree and disagree with this.  Eventually the night owl will be a homing pigeon -- IF that's how the couple wants to progress. I think your marriage will be in trouble if you want to be a homing pigeon and your mate doesn't.  There's no reason you can't be both, right? We are "night owls" since we still like to go out drinking and dancing. I'm sure this will slow down once the kiddies come along but I still imagine us going out with friends and family.

Day 325: Cutest Dentist

My plan was to hold out on all doc appointments until I got back home but I couldn't hold out. I made an appointment to see the dentist. I was so surprised when I walked into the dentist office. It was so cute! It was stylish and colorful, unlike the ones back home. I wonder if it's just this doctor's style or if this is a common thing. AND, I didn't spend an hour and a half in the waiting area! I was in and out in a matter of 20-25 minutes! I was so impressed. It made me think that maybe I should have made all my appointments with Aussie doctors.

P.S. All good with my teeth! Still cavity-free!

P.P.S. The cat statues were a lil' freaky lol.

Day 315: Chinese Goodies!

I love it when co-workers bring goodies back for the team from their vacation! We got this chinese decorative goodie today. It was a small gesture, but it made my morning.

Do you bring back goodies for co-workers when you've been away for a long time? If not, I think you should (if you like your co-workers lol) because they are picking up your work while you're away. So, bringing back a little something is a small way to say "Thank you." It doesn't have to be expensive. For example, I brought back cookies from Japan. It didn't break the back and everyone liked them!

Day 311: Bright Mornings

I've had early mornings at work recently. I like it because there is no one in the office to interrupt and I actually get some work done at my desk. The bad part about having early mornings is that sometimes it's too early for the drama and confusion on my calls. After my morning calls are done, I grab some breakfast and officially begin my work day.

I'm missing the hubsteroo like crazy so I try to find the bright side of him not being here.  Here's what I have so far:
(1) He's at work taking care of our "affairs"
(2) When I'm getting ready for work, I don't have to worry about waking him up
(3) I now have more closet space

No. I'm not going to list the cons.

Day 305: Ophelia

I haven't been home for lunch since Adonis left. This week of sulking has costing me money! I used to run home just to see Adonis. I would open the door and say "Honey! I'm hoooome!" (in a very cornball voice/tone) and he'd reply with some sly and silly remark.

I had a kebab today and passed by this statue named "Ophelia".

Day 299: Cop-a-Cabana

Sorry, not those type of skills. I'm talking CopaCabana. We're Baacckkk! I had to get one last look at this spot. The food has yet to disappoint and the music is always great. We started our night here and spent most of the evening dancing merengue and salsa. Eventually we made our way out of Fitzroy and back into the city. We landed at Gin Palace and finished the night with some extraordinary cocktails. This place is definitely worth a try. Think old harlem speakeasy. The bartenders are chefs but with spirits and half the enjoyment of the experience is watching your cocktail take shape. With James Brown bumping in the background, a well worn in leather man chair, and all I need is a fresh stogie to complete the feel.

 Of Course you would Adam!

Day 297: Australia Day

Today is Australia Day. It is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, the date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of New Holland.

So I asked my Aussie friends,
"Hey Aussie friends, what do you guys do to celebrate Australia day?"
To which they replied,
"eat lamb, have a barbie, and drink tinnies" and the other, "Eat lamb, drink, and fight with ethnics I think" "remember.. we did orginiate from criminals!"

So if you want to celebrate Australia day, thats how you do it folks. Hilarious if you ask me. We started our evening in St. Kilda. We went to the Twilight Market by Luna Park, and it was a lot of fun. There were several food vendors, Capt. Calamari and the Belgian Waffles, among our favorites. As well, there was plenty of clothing and accessory vendors as well....trouble!

In any case, today marked the first of my "Four Days of Fun." To bid myself farewell, I scheduled "events" so to speak so I could see everyone before I left. Tonight we ended up at old faithful, Kingpin Bowling. We grabbed a few drinks on the water front and finished the night at the arcade! Sometimes you gotta keep the fun simple. I had a lot of fun with my P.I.C. and am looking forward to the weekend!

Day 296: Computerizing

Being "away from it all" for four days was very refreshing. We just had to socialize with the other people on the bus, eat, take in all the beauty, and read. The only computerized part of the trip was our camera.

Let's not front: we missed our laptops and cell phones. So, we've been inter-webbing and computerizing for the last two days lol.  So what! Don't judge us!

Day 295: Soul Food

A lil taste of Americana

As soon as we arrived back in Melbourne I had to cure this wing fix! We headed to TGI Fridays and all I ordered was this. Wings. After 5 days of "bush" food this was a relief. I can't wait to get back to my local, or not so local bar in the Bronx and hit up WING NITE!!!
Now on to recovering,
That is all....

Day 288: Symbols of Commitment

Our engagement rings

This year we will witness three of our closest friends get married. It's just as rewarding to be a part of their milestones as it was for them to be part of ours. I look forward to the good married and family times to come!

Here are some bonus photos taken by Adonis from our balcony:

I'm so jealous I wasn't awake to snap these shots! Good job Adonis!

Day 283: 8 Glasses of Water

Have you tried drinking 8 glasses of water a day? It's not as easy as it sounds but it has to be done.  I'll admit that I don't reach 8 glasses every day but I'm working my way up. Adonis is much better at drinking at least 8 glasses a day. I just hate all the trips to the bathroom. Luckily we have a water filter faucet at work so at least I don't have to pay for the water.

Day 281: Missing Friends

I miss Tasha!

Our departure date is getting closer and closer.  It's actually right around the corner for Adonis. I'm still missing family and friends.  This Coke campaign isn't making it any easier.

Day 275: New Year... New Signs

So I go to the bathroom at work and I see this sign posted.... Really?? lol.
From what I gather, there have been some "cultural differences" we've had to iron out.
