Day 357: PWC Flowers
My building has the prettiest flower arrangements every week. They never disappoint. I just found out that my favorite Melbourne florist does the building flower arrangements! I have good taste, right??
No more "Flowers of the Week" in Melbourne since I'm leaving soon, so these will have to do.

Day 344: RIP Orchid
I was told an orchid is an easy plant to take care of ... lies!! The leaves are still green, the weird stem things seem to still be alive but the flower part is a goner. I know they die off, but I'm convinced this plant isn't coming back. I'll keep trying until I leave Australia buuuut it's chances are slim.
I'll take any pointers.

Day 323: Hometown Boost
I stopped by the candy shop a few weeks ago and I picked up a few of these lollipops because (1) I love them and (2) they remind me of home.
I remember going to the corner store in the Bronx with my sister and getting these for 5 cents! I have a specific way of eating these. It's just one of the many quirky things I do. Unfortunately, this is my last one. I'm off the sweets but I had to indulge for a little bit.

Day 321: HUGE Lilies
Check out how HUGE my lilies are now! They are gorgeous and they have the apartment smelling so good. But, I think I'm starting to get allergic to these too! They are so strong that my eyes are now itchy and watery. Uh-oh!

Day 319: Flower Power & Power Nap
![]() |
| Not used to seeing flowers so gloomy, right? |
Ok so my photo above has nothing to do with today.
I usually take power naps when I come home from work: 15 mins on weekdays and 1 hour on Fridays. Well this time I slept until 10PM! This completely messed me up for tonight. What a waste.... but I'm not going to lie. It felt good!

Day 308: 2012 flowers are here
Keeping fresh flowers in our home was a 2011 resolution but I'm going to continue with it in 2012. There's just something comforting about having fresh flowers at home.

Day 252: Orchid surprise
I went to work this morning and this little guy was on my desk. I have no idea who left it there but I appreciate it.
Hmmmm, how do I keep this thing alive and growing. I'm more of a cactus and bamboo type of person lol. Oh man, I need to do my research!

Day 231: Peonies, I loves!

I love Peonies!! When we picked them up from the florist, they were tight flower balls. Then, in the same night they started to bloom! How cool! I love to see flowers "come alive" right before my eyes. The next morning (and the following days) they bloomed into these huge flowers. I highly recommend these beauties. They are still holding strong too. Don't be surprised if you see them again next week.
Interesting Note:
The peony is named after Paeon (also spelled Paean), a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Asclepius became jealous of his pupil; Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the peony flower

Day 217: Bye Bye Roses
I think last week's flowers got jealous of my new anniversary flowers, they are half dead. At least they are still pretty!

Day 213: Hello Cairns!
We stayed up all night catching up The Walking Dead, blogging, and having a few drinks. We had to be out of the apartment by 3:30AM for a 6AM flight to Cairns, Australia!
We only care about two things on this trip: snorkeling The Great Barrier Reef and ....
.... celebrating 6 YEARS OF TOGETHERNESS & OUR 1 YEAR OF MARRIAGE!
We are staying at the Shangri-La. I walked into our room and I was greeted by a large and pretty view of the Marina from our room. I was also greeted by my surprise bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine that Adonis arranged before we arrived! That Sneaky McSneakster! I was soooo excited about my flowers. He said he could have went with more "traditional" flowers, like roses, but he knew that wasn't me! C'mon, I do flowers every week and last week was the first time I got roses. I love love looooove my flowers!! They are perfect in every way.
I must say that Adonis chose a fabulous hotel & hotel room. The room overlooks the Marina, it has a sexy glass wall that you can see into the bathroom from the bed area, and it has a large patio/balcony for us to enjoy the beautiful weather.
We spent the day walking around Cairns, trying to catch up with the LAdies, and going out for some eats and drinks once we did find them.
Tomorrow.... THE GREAT BARRIER REEF!!

Day 203: Lilies Remind Me of Wifey
Stargazer Lilies ... remind me of my best woman: Nikki. She absolutely loves these flowers. I personally enjoy them in our home. They have a strong scent, bright colors, and last a very long time. Sorry I've been terrible at asking the florist the flower's names. but the little white ones started off green buds and turned into a ball of white little flowers. CUTE!! These also last a very long time.

Day 180: Some Light on a Lazy Day
Saturday = Lazy Day.
We haven't had a lazy day in forever. Don't know what a "lazy day" is? A lazy day is when you do absolutely nothing all day. Seriously -- Here's what you do:
- You wake up at 2pm
- Eat breakfast
- Go back to sleep
- Wake up again
- Sit on the couch and watch TV
- Nap
- Cruise the interwebs for a bit
- Watch movies
- Order dinner some where between #5-8.
- You do not change your pajamas, you do not wash dishes, you do not do laundry... nothing!
We have to appreciate these days while we can (before the Lil' Longs get here).
I really wanted to go to the florist to pick up new flowers of the week --- but that didn't happen. As you can see... I really needed new ones because my flowers are DEAD.
*yawn* back to doing NADA!

Day 178: Irises ... again!
Flowers of the Week:
Don't ask what they are (other than the Irises) because 1, we rushed the purchased since we missed the market and 2, there were no labels plus the flower guys was busy. That may have been three things, but I diverge.
There's only one thing you need to know. DON'T BUY BABIES BREATH. I walked around all day trying to figure out what the funky smell was. We scrubbed the house and took out the garbage. Guess what? It was the little white buds you see in the top picture i.e. Babies breath. Eww... no more of that!

Day 164: Flowers of the Weak
Joke for ya... What flower is between your nose and your lips? Give up? Tulips...get it... two lips, tulips! I give up, you guys are a tough audience. I'm not sure why Diana picked these up. I usually like it when she does her go big or go home arrangements. I guess she decided to keep it simple. The flowers did good for the first day, and stood up loud and proud the second. However, they quickly died and left us flowerless coming into the next week. We know now, instead of rushing our flowers of the week, we'll put more thought and consideration into our future arrangements.
Hope you guys are happy and healthy out there! Oh, and feel free to tell us about any new types of flowers you come across, as we will with ours.
